When I started this blog, I told myself I was just going talk about myself and such. Weeeell, I am becoming more and more astonished at the, um, I'll just say it, blind ignorance of the country at large.
One of the blogs I read regularly is Andrew Sullivan's(I told you I was more conservative than you might think), he has just posted this little tidbit of information that I have shamelessly copied word for word and posted for your bemusement(?)

"42 PERCENT: That's how many Americans believe that the earth and all its creatures have always been the same since they were created by God in Genesis. Fully "70 percent of white evangelical Protestants say that life has existed in its present form since the beginning of time." 63 percent of them are "very certain" that this is true. I must say that there are times when one is rendered speechless. No educated intelligent person could possibly look at the evidence of science and say such a thing. And yet we are supposed to have a reasoned debate with these people on the matter. How is that even possible?"

The I figure it, science, to many people, is simply here to destroy god, to disprove he/she/it exists. Their notion of what science is/does destroys there preconceived, safe, idea of the world. Either that or it all about the ego and how some people cannot fathom being a descendent of those ugly apes...

When Did I Become An Adult!?

Because of some factors, one of which is that I will be 36 years old on September 5th, (the other reasons are too much of a cliche to post without my face turning red), I have seriously started planning for my future. For that past couple of years, I have been paying $400 a month into my credit card to pay the thing off. Well, in two months, the card will be paid off and I will be debt free. That's right 100 percent debt free! Yay! Because of this, I opened a new savings account with a company that offers the best rate I could find (not a "brick and morter" bank, but a online-only bank - which is why the rate is so much better, I think.) I plan on depositing $300 a month into the savings. Eventually I will put more into the account, but for now, I will deposit only $300/month. After I have some saved, I will probably place a chunk of the money into an IRA, CD or Mutual Fund while keeping some in savings (ya gotta keep some liquidity! Gawd, I sound like I know what I'm talking about.)
Doing this makes feel like such an adult, although, I have to say, looking at how many of the adults live in this country, i.e. in debt up to their eyeballs, perhaps I'm not so much an adult as an aberation? Suze Orman would be so proud!

That's really the most exciting thing that I did this weekend. Oh, I called my Mom and Dad. We talked. About...I don't really remember.

Explainer:
12 Girls Band is difficult to explain. It's kind of good in a asian craptakular kind of way. I bought this DVD in Chinatown while on a "date" with Chad Fox a couple of years ago. Before anyone goes all "ohmygawd, Michael dated Chad Fox!", I must explain the "date". Since Chad Fox and I were both lacking any discernable boyfriends at the time, we decided to be each other's "date" for Valentine's Day. Okay? On with the story... If I remember correctly, I bought it because I liked the fact that the DVD was "blue" (and still is). No, the tone of the DVD is not blue, the DVD is in fact blue. Yeah, welcome to my world.

I've put MS Word to good use this morning and printed in large BOLD font sign reading "NO TV - You must write!" I taped it to the screen of my TV, hopefully this will help. I will still watch The New Hour, though.

Note to President Bush:
Inteligent Design is not Science and should not be taught in Science class, nitwit. Put it where it belongs, Philosophy. It's a shame when one must explain the difference between Science and Philosophy to the President of the United States.
