No Castro Halloween - Yay!!!

As one that has lived in San Francisco for 15 years and the Castro for 8, I am very happy about this.

"City officials said Wednesday that there will be no official Halloween celebration anywhere in San Francisco in October - not in the Castro neighborhood"

As to the whole "it's a tradition" nonsense? Yeah, whatever. Tradition can suck it. I stopped going to Halloween in the Castro when I kept hearing punks always talking about why all "these fucking faggots" are around. Seriously. "faggots" in the Castro. Amazing.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out especially since Beven Dufty is trying to get business' to close on Halloween.

"But officials are still trying to prevent any festivities in the Castro. On Wednesday, Supervisor Bevan Dufty sent a letter to 110 owners of bars, restaurants and stores in the Castro, asking them to close shop on Halloween night to discourage party goers."

Happy that I got to see the Castroween back in the days before it became inundated with idiots.

I am a bit skeptical that they'll be able to stop it just by having businesses close. The year they "moved" it down to Civic Center we still ended up with quite an influx of freaks. (and not the good kind)

That doesn't make sense that the business would close up shop. Would he be paying them what they would loose in revenue? Probably not.

It's too bad that assholes have to ruin it by the slander comments... It's just sad...

Oh and I didn't know that gays went to Castro, I mean I totally thought it was straight there. [Sarcastic Snicker]... LOL
